Privacy notice
What Elmtale keeps, who can see it, and how to have it deleted.
What we keep
- About you: your name, email address, a scrambled form of your password, and your orders.
- About the storyteller: the name, phone number, language, time zone, background notes and family questions you give us, your confirmation that they know about the calls and agree (with its time and wording, as a record of consent), and their answer when Grace asks at the start of the first call.
- From the calls: call times and lengths, and, only if the storyteller agreed to be recorded, the recording, a transcript, the written stories, the draft chapter and short audio clips.
An AI interviewer, and recording consent
The calls are made by Grace, an AI interviewer. She says she is an AI at the start of every call and asks before recording. If the storyteller says no, the call is not recorded.
Who sees what
- You see the conversation schedule, the storyteller's answer, and the stories, chapters and clips from their conversations.
- Our team can see accounts and calls only to run the service, answer your questions and fix problems.
- Service providers process data for us under contract and only for this service: the voice and phone providers that carry the calls, an AI provider that turns transcripts into stories, Stripe for payments, an email provider, and our hosting provider.
We do not sell personal information, show ads, or use recordings and stories to train AI models.
Payments
Payments go through Stripe. Stripe receives your card details directly; we only learn whether the payment succeeded.
How long we keep it, and deletion
We keep the stories and recordings while your account is open, so you can come back to them. You can ask us to delete one storyteller's conversations and details, or your whole account, at any time; the storyteller can ask too. We then delete them from our systems and ask our voice provider to delete its copies.
